Give Greenhouse A Try
While salads are often overlooked as a simple side with many meals, they can be so much more than a bed of plain greens. In the summer of 2019, two chefs opened Greenhouse in Homewood to showcase all that a salad can be, with rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and some true culinary creativity.

Flipping the typical menu on its head, salads are the main event at Greenhouse. Of course, if a restaurant is going to focus on salads, you can expect far more than a bowl of spring mix and dressing. The salads at Greenhouse are masterfully crafted by culinary experts to make the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients, with clever flavor combinations and satisfying portions. Their signature salad, the Greenhouse, comes with watercress, romaine, mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, pickled onion, goat cheese, and green goddess dressing. They’ve also formulated their own take on the classic Caesar salad with kale, romaine, pecorino cheese, breadcrumbs, and a house-made Caesar dressing.

Their offerings may change with the seasons, and in the warmer months, you can ask about the hearty Summer Steak salad with arugula, cilantro, sunflower seeds, grilled onions and peppers, and more, all served with a red pepper vinaigrette. You’re also welcome to build your own salad, with a long list of available ingredients.

Soups and Sandwiches

If you’re interested in a hand-held meal, you can opt for one of Greenhouse’s sandwiches. They offer a Cuban with marinated kale, pickled onions, Swiss cheese, smoky pork, and chicharrones on a French loaf. Their chicken salad sandwich features butter lettuce with toasted nut bread, and the grilled cheese comes with cheddar, mozzarella, and smoked gouda cheese, plus chimichurri, all on sourdough. They can even make this cheese-centric sandwich vegan if you wish.

Soothing soups include the crispy tequila pork, smoky corn, and wild mushroom with rice, each available in either a cup or a bowl. Since they’ve opened, the chefs have utilized surplus ingredients to make special items like a vibrant green zucchini soup.


Even if you’re on the go, you can still stop in to grab something healthful. Greenhouse blends a colorful variety of robust smoothies, each packed with flavor and nutrition. The Green Boi comes loaded with nourishing fruit and greens like strawberry, banana, spinach, whole milk yogurt, flax, and agave. It’s also enriched with collagen, spirulina, and ashwagandha.

Greenhouse includes the ashwagandha as a stress-fighting supplement. Spirulina is a cool-hued, massively nutritious algae, and it also gives the Blue Guy its appetizing color. The Blue Guy contains pineapple, banana, coconut, whole milk yogurt, whey protein, and flax in addition to the antioxidant and vitamin-rich algae.
