This year, don’t miss your opportunity to see The Nutcracker performed live by the Moscow Ballet.

When and Where

This beautiful production will be performed at the Alabama Theatre for one night only on December 28, at 7:00 p.m. The New York Times has named the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker one of the “hot tickets” of the season, so you’ll want to get tickets soon!

The Great Russian Nutcracker

This production of The Nutcracker follows the beloved, traditional story that we all know and love, but adds a few special elements. For example, the story is set in Moscow, and the city’s famous skyline is featured as a backdrop during scenes of the ballet. The company has also added several unique characters to their rendition of The Nutcracker including traditional Russian folk characters Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, as well as the “Dove of Peace.” The Dove guides the Nutcracker and Clara to the “Land of Peace and Harmony”, which is traditionally known as “The Land of Sweets” in most productions of the ballet.

The Moscow Ballet also has a unique “Dance with Us” program, which allows young dancers in each tour city to audition and perform with the company during their city’s performance. Be on the lookout for our little Birmingham dancers on December 28!
