There are many aspects of the South that people love. For instance, comfort foods are a delicacy. Biscuits, fried green tomatoes, crispy chicken; there are so many foods you should consider if you’re visiting any of the southern states. In Alabama, we are big fans of football and BBQ! If you ever attend a tailgate party, chances are you’ll find someone with a grill and some delicious pork.
Although football season is over, there are still plenty of chances for you to try the BBQ in the area. Birmingham residents are all too familiar with BBQ due to the many restaurants that the city has to offer. If you want to forgo the restaurants and have a unique experience instead, you’re going to want to attend the 8th Annual CahabaQue! You can learn more about this fun and tasty event below!
All About the Event
The 8th Annual CahabaQue will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cahaba Brewing Company located at 4500 5th Ave S, Building C, Birmingham, AL 35222. The event is family-friendly and all are welcome to attend. As spring comes and then summer, you’ll discover that BBQ will be a famous dish around Birmingham and the surrounding areas. However, the CahabaQue event is the barbecue cook off of the season!
For those of you wanting to support a good cause, come out and have fun with your friends and family! You can taste some great food, meet some new people in the community, and let your kids have a blast. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the event. Children ages 10 and under get in for free and tickets at the gate will cost $20. There will also be a kids zone which will feature various activities including a fun bounce house. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the outdoors!

Entering the Competition
If you plan on entering the BBQ competition, you should know that there are several rules to follow. First, there can only be one pit master and you can have up to five crew members. This will be your team. On Friday, April 17, you and your team will pick up the essentials and begin the cook off. You even get to stay overnight to cook! Each team will receive 10+ Boston butts and you’ll have a 10×10 space to cook. You’ll also get napkins and serving utensils.
