Have you ever been so inspired by a friend that you would say they changed your life? It could be for their serving, their giving, or just the fact that they have conquered or beaten a very tough challenge. That’s how the team at the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation felt when they created the Legacy of Laura award. This award gives others a chance to nominate the ones who persevere just as Laura did!
This prestigious award is presented each year at the annual Taste of Teal event, which is held in town on March 7 this year to celebrate the honorees. Among other events such as the Head Over Teal 5k/10k and the Get Busy Fishing Golf Tournament, Taste of Teal is a night to honor community members who have stepped up, but also bring more awareness to the foundation and GYN cancers.
Taste of Teal
A night at the Taste of Teal Gala looks like this: snacking on a delicious spread of foods, sipping on drinks with your friends, swaying back and forth to music, bidding on a few items in the silent and live auctions, showing off your skills with casino games, and honoring those who are truly deserving of the Legacy of Laura award.
To attend, you’ll need to purchase your ticket online! Individual tickets in advance are $100, regular individual tickets are $125, and patron tables are $1,000. When you buy tickets, be sure to pay attention to the area that asks for your cell phone number — the silent auction will be done using mobile bidding, so a phone number is required.

Laura Crandall Brown Foundation
Before you attend the gala at Reigons Field, you might find it both helpful and inspirational to learn a little more about the foundation. It was founded by the friends of Laura Crandall Brown shortly after her passing in 2009. Through her battle with ovarian cancer, Laura discovered a deep passion to comfort others who might be battling the same thing. This desire is what drove the foundation to its beginning with the original mission statement to provide funds for ovarian cancer early detection research. Fast forward ten years and the new mission of the group has added in a patient support program and has expanded to include all gynecologic cancers.
If this is a cause that speaks to you as well, the Taste of Teal Gala is the perfect way to show support and enjoy a night with some pretty incredible people!
