Raise some money for the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and have a lot of fun in the process by participating in the 2018 Oak Mountain Color Run. The race will be on March 17 and will start at 8:30 a.m. You’ll leave from 200 Terrace Drive in Pelham and take off on a 5k course. Individuals 12 and under can register for $15. It costs $25 to register if you’re 13 or over. You can also register as a team for $20 a person. There is a five-person minimum for the team.
There will also be a one-mile fun run that will start after the color run. The registration fee is the same cost for the mile run.
Here are a few things you need to know about the color run.
It’s Going to be Colorful
There are going to be tons of paint stations along the 5k course, so expect things to get colorful. Wear a white shirt so the colors show up. Then, you can preserve the colors after the race. When you finish the run, put a vinegar and water mixture in a bottle. Spray the shirt down and then iron it. Wash the shirt in cold water, and it’ll be ready to wear again.
It’s All for a Good Cause
The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center does great work, and you can help by raising some money. You can do more than register for the race. You can also bring donations with you to the race or bid on one of the auction items. Plus, buy some food from City Bowls while you’re there. Twenty percent of the proceeds will go to the center. That’s another great reason to eat this delicious and healthy food.

Get There Early
You will come out ahead if you get there early. First, coffee and doughnuts will be on hand, but it’s first come, first served. If they run out before you arrive, you won’t get any. Also, Zumba will start at 7:45. You can burn off the calories from the doughnuts and warm up for the run.
