Comedy At The Theatre
Birmingham is bustling with live entertainment, and it’s not just music anymore. We have some hilarious local comedians around town, as well as national acts coming through on tour. You can catch a full night’s worth of humor in Five Points, so save a date for Comedy at the Theatre.

Make Your Plans

These shows are held at the Birmingham Festival Theatre on the final Sunday of each month. Each event is comprised of two separate shows – the first beginning at 7 p.m. and the second going on at 9 p.m. The price of admission is $15 per person, and you can order your tickets HERE. The Birmingham Festival Theatre is located at 1901 11th Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama 35205. It’s above Golden Temple Health Foods and Café.

One Night, Two Shows

For each Sunday show, crowds are treated to two unique formats. The night begins with a “Storyteller” act introduced by a guest MC. In the Storyteller round, three comedians each take turns performing their own standup set. They may be local humorists or visitors from all around the U.S., and all their various styles and characters come together to form the light-hearted stew that Goulash Comedy is known for.

At 9 p.m., the second show involves some audience participation. For the FAME! series, comics take the stage to share anecdotes from their celebrity encounters. The stories will be peppered with commentary and questions by the hosts Chris Ivey and Peter Davenport, and after the comedian is finished, the audience can also ask questions of their own.

The Organizers

These nights are brought to Birmingham by Goulash Comedy, a local comedy event booker. Goulash Comedy brings in touring acts from near and far and organizes open mic nights where aspiring comics can share a few laughs in the Magic City.

Fun in Five Points

There’s plenty to see and do in Birmingham’s Five Points neighborhood, so plan to arrive early to grab dinner. You can go duck pin bowling or chill or the rooftop at The Woolworth, or grab a classic Philly cheesesteak across the street at T-Bone’s. You can also enjoy a game of billiards over at Black Market, or savor some hearty Irish cuisine at Brennan’s. Music lovers may also peruse Renaissance Records and Charlemagne Record Exchange.
