Summer can pull family members in many different directions, so it’s nice to have a tradition, a special weekly event that everyone can enjoy together. Free Friday Flicks is this type of summertime tradition for many families in and around Birmingham. In fact, the series of weekly family-friendly movies in Veterans Park kicks off its 27th season this year – so, for many people, it’s been a summer staple for as long as they remember.
Every Friday from June 1 through July 20 (rain date July 27), attendees settle in lawn chairs and on beach towels and blankets sprawled on the span of grass in front of the giant, 40-foot outdoor screen set up in the park. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Kids can enjoy the free kids’ zone, and there is pizza from Little Caesars.
Veterans Park is located at 4800 Valleydale Road in Hoover. Movies start at dusk.
