Moss Rock Preserve

Moss Rock Preserve boasts 349 acres of stunning natural beauty. There are 12 miles of hiking trails to wander. Here you will find forests, waterfalls, numerous rock outcroppings, and four rare plant species. Boulder Field, inside the preserve, is a great spot for rock climbers of all skill levels. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Grab your hiking bag and make a day of this natural wonder.

Red Mountain Park

Red Mountain Park sits in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama. Once the site of iron ore mining, the park is now a true getaway in the midst of urban life. It consists of over 15 miles of gorgeous hiking trails, two overlooks showing the sights of Birmingham, historic mining sites, three fantastic tree houses and much more. There are 2 miles of flat walking trails of easier terrain, perfect for strollers or just a leisurely walk. Red Mountain Park also has a six-acre dog park, so it’s perfect for both you and your furry friend.

Aldridge Gardens

Aldridge Gardens is a 30 acre botanical garden right in the midst of Hoover, Alabama. It features a six-acre lake with a walking trail. The Gardens host events for everyone, including summer camps, bird watching, and venue rentals. Aldridge Garden is the birthplace of the patented Snowflake Hydrangea. Take a break from the every day and visit this wondrous place.

Vulcan Walking Trail

Vulcan Walking Trail is a scenic, mile-long, paved trail close to Vulcan Park. It’s ideal for biking, skating, strolling or just bird-watching. For a little extra adventure, take the wooded footpath that forks off the trail. This place is great to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just breathe in the wonders of nature.

Black Creek Park’s Rails to Trails

Black Creek has many beautiful features, including a 3-mile long nature trail that was once the site of an old railroad bed. The well-maintained trail is perfect for runners or anyone looking for a casual stroll through the forest.
