The Red Barn has been providing cognitive services for children in and around Birmingham, Alabama, for many years. Children of all ages have benefited from the extraordinary services that this ranch has to offer. Children who suffer from disabilities seem to thrive under Red Barn’s learning programs. The Red Barn specializes in learning activities, and its ranch style set-up provides a clean and relaxed environment. One of it’s biggest events is known as “Take The Reigns 10K.” The event’s proceeds will help support the program, and to celebrate the area’s veterans. It was all inspired by Cpl. Anthony Clay Ward, but here’s a bit more information to familiarize you with what’s taking place.
The Red Barn’s Mission
To simply state it, the Red Barn offers many educational programs for children. Some of its programs consist of weekly riding lessons, art, outdoor education, and music. It’s sort of an after school type of program that works tirelessly to help these kids succeed. Many of the kids have special needs such as Down Syndrome and Autism. The importance of being around safe domestic animals like horses, and the ability to be in a tranquil environment, truly helps these kids to excel emotionally.
Take The Reins Challenge
This can either be the 5K or the 10K run. As with all activities, registration is required first. Being a nonprofit organization, the Red Barn offers many options of services. This includes saddle lessons, cleaning the stalls, hosting supply drives, sponsoring horses, and the ability to help with property projects. There are numerous ways to take part in these programs, and those ways help to support the Red Barn throughout the year.
