There’s no time like the holiday season to focus on spreading joy to those who need it most. That’s the spirit behind the Sugar Plum Shop, presented by Regions Bank and benefiting Children’s of Alabama. This donation-fueled, on-premises toy shop brings a healthy dose of Christmas cheer to families spending their holidays at Children’s.
Sugar Plum Shop
No one wants to spend the holidays in the hospital, but that’s the reality for hundreds of young patients at Children’s of Alabama. The Sugar Plum Shop was created in an effort to make the Christmas season joyful for these children and their families. The Sugar Plum Shop is an in-hospital toy store that allows parents of currently hospitalized patients to “shop” – free of charge – for gifts that will lift spirits and boost holiday happiness for Children’s patients and their siblings.
Not only does this shop spread happiness to the children receiving the gifts, it helps empower their parents during a difficult time. It’s a priceless gift for these parents to be able to brighten Christmas for their hospitalized children and their affected siblings.
Donations and Involvement
The Sugar Plum Shop depends on the generous donations of a caring community. Toy drives and personal donations of toys for the shop keep this annual Christmas event thriving. If you’re looking for ways to spread holiday joy this season, consider donating to this worthy cause. All approved toy donations are welcomed and appreciated, but you can view the Sugar Plum Shop wish list online to see the items that are in high demand – as well as those that cannot be accepted for safety reasons.
The shop itself is operated by hospital staff, corporate partners, and community volunteers. This ensures that there is a variety of ways to get involved in keeping this important annual tradition alive.
