Limber up and get ready for a brisk run, because it’s almost time for the 10th Annual Head Over Teal 5k, 10k and Fall Festival! Proceeds from this event will go to the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, which helps women dealing with cancer through programs, early detection research, education, and emotional support.

When and Where

The Head Over Teal 5k/10k and Fall Festival will be held at the Hoover Preserve on Saturday, September 21. It will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude by 12 p.m. The Hoover Preserve is located at 616 Preserve Parkway, Hoover, Alabama 35226.

Plan Ahead

Entry for the 10k is $45, and entry for the 5k is $40, with chip timing included in the price. If you choose the sleep-in option, the cost is $30, and you receive an event t-shirt. Entry for children 13 years old and younger is $20. Teams of five or more can register at a discount. Parking will be limited around the Preserve, but there will be a shuttle running from Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The shuttle will run every 10 to 15 minutes. Pre-race packet pickup will be at the Preserve Town Hall on September 19 and 20, or you can arrive at 7 a.m. on the day of the event to claim your packet.

The Races

Both the 5k and 10k courses will lead runners through the picturesque neighborhood streets of the Hoover Preserve. Participants may run or walk as they choose, and their pets are welcome to tag along. As you pass by the handsome homes, residents may come out to cheer you on, and the subtle hills and smooth roads make for an easy trek. Awards for both races will be given out at 9:30 a.m.

The Festival

While the race is underway, the Preserve will also host a lively Fall Festival on the community lawn. This free, family-friendly event will feature live music, food, and a photo booth. Children can enjoy a variety of activities including face painting, inflatables, and more. The festival opens at 8:30 a.m.
