Hey musical fans! On June 21, dust off that leather jacket and twist your way over to the Alabama Theatre in downtown Birmingham for a “summer night” screening of the hit musical Grease. This event is part of the theatre’s Summer Movie Series, which features weekly viewings of classic films through August.
The show starts at 7 p.m. and will open with a singalong of everyone’s favorite songs from the show, accompanied by “Big Bertha” – the theatre’s Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Tickets are available to purchase online. The cost is $9 a person, and children 2 and under are free.
Synopsis
Grease follows the story of “good girl” Sandy and “greaser” Danny – two teens from opposite sides of the track who fall in love over the summer. When Sandy unexpectedly arrives at Danny’s high school that fall, their feelings for one another are put to the test as they navigate all the social pressures of teenage life.
Even if you’ve never had a chance to see Grease, you’re almost certainly familiar with some of the show’s most popular tunes. Come sing and dance along to classics like You’re The One That I Want, Greased Lightning, and the chart-topping hit Summer Nights.
