Graze: Birmingham

Graze: Birmingham
Here in Alabama, we have an abundance of fantastic food courtesy of many wonderful farmers. We also have a host of great chefs, and you can enjoy this perfect pairing at Avondale Brewing Company this September. The Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network will soon host its annual Graze: Birmingham event, a farm to fork celebration of our regional farming and culinary contributions.

When and Where

This event will take place at the spacious backyard of the Avondale Brewing Company on Sunday, September 8. It will go from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Avondale Brewing is located at 201 41st Street South, Birmingham, Alabama 35222.

Graze

For their annual fundraiser, the ASAN will host a picnic-style for their assembled guests. Farmers and chefs will pair up to make a special dish with locally-grown provisions, and the completed dishes will be served up in sample portions at their respective booths. Guests may then browse the booths to enjoy the unique offerings of each duo. You may graze at your leisure in the convivial picnic atmosphere, and over 15 booths will present the best efforts of beloved farmers, culinarians, and restaurants.

A Farm to Fork Picnic

You’ll taste the delicious bounty of Alabama lands, and you’ll experience the expert skill of a host of the Magic City’s talented chefs. You may see a traditional Southern staple prepared with heirloom vegetables, or you might encounter an imaginative dish using familiar, homegrown ingredients in inventive new ways. To liven things up, there will be live music on Avondale’s stage throughout the event. Of course, local food goes wonderfully with local drink, so you’re welcome to pull up to the brewery’s bar and explore their wide selection of high-quality craft brews.

Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network

The open-air food fair is brought to you by ASAN, an organization that endeavors to strengthen the ties between the farmers, consumers, and other industry members that call Alabama home. They promote sustainable agriculture through education and improved understanding of our resources and environment. The network aims to facilitate dialogue between producers, policymakers, and the many supporting institutions that drive the industry in the state; identify what everyone needs to prosper; and enhance communication and connectivity between all parties.
