Learn About Bee Keeping At The Bee School Short Class
Gardeners know that there’s a delicious reward found in eating food you grew yourself. A fish you caught on the lake is that much tastier too. Likewise, there’s nothing sweeter than honey made in your own beehive. If you’ve ever thought about raising honeybees, you can learn the essentials in a beekeeping class by Foxhound Bee Company.

When and Where

The class will be held at Samford University on Saturday, September 14. It will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon. This class is for attendees ages 10 years old and up. The cost for the class is $39 per person, and you can register in advance HERE. Samford is located at 2100 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35209.

Bee School

Over the course of the three-hour class, you will learn the basics of beekeeping, honey production, and the life of bees in a hive. The experts will explain the ins and outs of the hive and will show you what sort of bees live within, carrying out various roles. They’ll also illustrate the significance of honeybees within our environment. You’ll even get to taste honey from all across the globe.

Extra Education

If the idea has you buzzing for more info, you can attend Foxhound Bee Company’s other classes this fall. On Saturday, September 7, they will host a full-day beginner class at Samford to delve into the details of backyard beekeeping. From 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Foxhound pros will lead you through a series of lessons to instill you with a solid foundation, even if you’re entirely new to the subject. If the weather allows, they will even open a hive for hands-on, interactive learning.

On Friday, October 4, the instructors will return to Samford for a 6 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. hive tour. For this lesson, you’ll zip up into a bee keeper’s suit and explore the inner workings of an active honeybee hive. Even if you already have your own beehive, this is a unique opportunity to watch another keeper at work as they handle their winged friends and perform a hive inspection.

If you know someone who is interested in keeping bees, or if you think a beekeeper friend may benefit from the continued education, you can give them a Foxhound gift card to attend classes like this.
